The Polish investment fund market started to develop when Pioneer Pekao Towarzystwo Funduszy Inwestycyjnych SA was established as a mutual fund company in 1992 (the term 'mutual companies' was replaced by 'investment funds' due to change in legislation).

The collective investment market has evolved significantly ever since. Many funds have been created, and many investors have decided to give them their savings. The assets managed by investment funds are currently worth approximately 94,8 billion PLN (current as at 31 January 2010 - source: Polish Financial Supervision Authority).

A major contribution to the market's growth has also been made by companies servicing funds, that is, transfer agents. Being the first such company in the Polish market, Pekao Financial Services Sp. z o.o. started to provide comprehensive services to financial institutions.

Presently, Pekao FS deals with 39 Polish-domiciled funds and sub-funds offering diverse investment strategies, which invest in international capital markets (current as at 31 December 2009 - source: Polish Financial Supervision Authority), as well as savings and retirement schemes that enable to put money regularly aside for the future.
