In 1992, along with the foundation of Poland's first mutual fund company, the country's first transfer agent, Financial Services Ltd (FSL), was established as a joint venture of Bank Pekao S.A. and Pioneer International Group of Boston. In 1998, this company spun off a transfer agent, Pekao Financial Services Sp. z o.o. (Pekao FS), and FSL changed its name to Pioneer Financial Services Sp. z o.o. (Pioneer FS).
As two independent market players, Pekao FS and Pioneer FS operated each on their own for a few subsequent years, servising in major mutual funds offered by Pekao/Alliance TFI S.A. and Pioneer PPTFI S.A., as well as the first pension funds that were available in the Polish market.
In 2001, due to certain ownership changes within the UniCredit Group, a decision was made to combine the strengths and experiences of both companies. Pekao Financial Services Sp. z o.o. merged the potentials and resources of both companies.
Bank Pekao S.A. retains its 100% ownership in Pekao FS.
