The distribution of funds that are registered abroad has not got impetus on the polish market yet. Considering what opportunities they can make available to their members, these funds form a very promising branch of the financial market, as they invest all around the world, for instance, in emerging-market bonds, in forward contracts, or in shares in companies operating in industries that are poorly available to Polish customers, such as biotechnological companies, pharmaceutical multinationals, or gold and diamond mines. With the strategies offered by these funds, Polish investors can have shares of global companies in their own securities portfolios, without having to trade on foreign exchanges for themselves.

The fact that foreign financial institutions are interested in our domestic market is reflected in a growing number of foreign investment funds which are already offered (as on 31 December 2007: 422 off-shore funds are available while as on 31 December 2008: 514 funds of 32 fund providers – source: Polish Financial Supervision Authority). It should be noted that at this moment only a small proportion of investment companies have hitherto decided to start selling their foreign funds domiciled abroad and our domestic market is currently dominated by funds domiciled in Poland.

We have extensive experience in handling foreign funds gained from years of working with Merrill Lynch. Since early 2005, that is since the inception of the distribution of foreign funds in Poland, to 28 January 2010, conducted a service operating in the sub-fund of Merrill Lynch during the Protected Global Index Fund, funds from family Torrus Funds. Sub-Fund has been closed due to the end of the period for which it was created.
